Argo,
The first ship to sail the sea
In Greek mythology, Argo is the legendary ship that symbolises the beginning of sea exploration
ΑΡΓΩ or Argo is a 10-meter traditional wooden boat (kaiki in Greek), called trehandiri, built in Panormo (Crete) in 1993, and fully renovated between the winter of 2025 and spring 2026. Since 2022, she has been classified as a Greek Traditional Wooden Boat.
Argo can accommodate 10 guests, plus two crew members: one captain and one hostess.
We operate on the northern coast of Crete, in the beautiful Rethymno area.
Among our favourite destinations are Ombros Gialos, Gerani on the western side, and Geropotamos and Panormo on the eastern side, along with many other beautiful locations. Overall, the stretch of coastline we love to explore extends from Bali Bay in the east to Marathi in the west.
We normally prefer to discuss the route together, taking weather conditions into account and better adapting the experience to our guests’ preferences.
THE MYTH OF ARGO
The name “Argo” is inspired by the legendary ship of Greek mythology, Argo, which carried Jason and the Argonauts on their quest for the Golden Fleece.
According to myth, Argo was not just a ship, but a symbol of adventure, exploration, and unity — as it carried heroes from all over Greece on a shared journey into the unknown.
Just like its mythical namesake, our Argo is meant to embody discovery at sea: a journey through the beauty of Crete, where nature, sea, and tradition converge.
